Children are born wanting to learn. They learn more in their first
three years of life than they do in the whole rest of their lives so
it’s vitally important that they are surrounded by stimulating and
educational opportunities. I provide opportunities to explore,
investigate, manipulate and create as I watch, wait and wonder.
Activities are provided which enhance the children’s language and motor
skills, as well as an abundance of opportunities to learn through play.
Emphasis is placed on fostering children’s social and emotional
competence as well as ensuring each child is equipped with the required
literacy and numeracy skills needed for school.
My secure learning environment encourages a child to develop a strong
sense of self-esteem as they grow within a personal level of comfort.
There are lots of opportunities to get outside, whatever the weather.
There is always a good chance of getting mucky - when children are fully
engaged in the task at hand they should not be inhibited by the fear of
getting messy. As Albert Einstein once said, 'play is the highest form
of research' and you can see that in all their activities; they are
practising, perfecting, testing, wondering, developing theories,
improving concentration, showing perseverance, decision making,
communication, conflict resolution, negotiating, questioning,
rationalising ... the list goes on and on and on.
And of course there’s always plenty of laughter, cuddles and fun as we
hopefully make memories that last a lifetime. |
